Today (3/7) another stage of the Public Hearing that addressed the 3rd Periodic Tariff Revision of Companhia de Eletricidade do Estado da Bahia (Coelba) was completed with the onsite session held in Salvador. Coelba provides electricity to five million consumer units in 415 municipalities in Bahia.
The onsite session of the Public Hearing, chaired by the director of ANEEL, Edvaldo Santana, was attended by 51 participants, including consumers, community leaders, Consumer Councils, representatives of the distributors, and representatives of the associated agency.
It presented the preliminary proposal providing for a reduction of 7.34% (negative) in the bills of residential consumers in the concession area of Coelba. For industries, the proposal is for an average reduction of 0.16% (negative). The final index of the concessionaire’s tariff revision will be approved at a board meeting of ANEEL to be held after analysis of the submissions received. The index is to come into force as of 4/22/2013.
Tariff revision is provided in the concession agreements and aims to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the return on investments of companies focused on the provision of distribution services and coverage of expenses actually recognized by ANEEL. It is applied to the distribution concessionaires every four years on average.
