The Board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) decided in a public meeting held today (3/26) to republish the Auction Edict that will select the concessionaire for exploring the public utility of electric energy distribution in part of the Municipality of Putinga and part of the Municipality of Anta Gorda, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.The public session for the auction will be held on May 3.This area is currently handled by the Municipal Department of Electric Energy of Putinga (DEMEEP).

The distribution of electric energy in the municipality of Putinga, with nearly 4150 inhabitants, has been supplied in an informal and atypical manner by DEMEEP, which does not have the concession right approval for exploring this service.The energy is acquired from Concessionária Rio Grande Energia S./A.(RGE).

In 2004, ANEEL determined that the regularization of the services would occur through the approval of the concession preceded by a tender.However, studies conducted by the Agency and concluded in 2009 revealed the constitution of an autonomous concession that services only that location to be unfeasible.Thus, the process for regulating electric energy distribution services in the cited geographical area was initiated, with its incorporation to an existing concession area, preceded by a tender.

The subject was in public hearing from 3/29 to 4/30 of 2012. Registrations can be made from April 25-29.The public session for the Auction will be held at the ANEEL address, SGAN 603, module J, Brasília – DF, starting at 10 am.
